Our History
What started off as a funeral parlour offering funeral services only in 1902, diversified to Funeral Assurance. Doves Funeral Assurance became Doves Life Assurance offering highly sought-after Life Assurance products to the Zimbabwean market.

Our adaptability to the market and service excellence has seen us win several awards in the last few years including the Insurance Survey and Awards Best Life Assurance Company of The Year 2021, Best Funeral Service Provider 2022, CCAZ Service excellence awards in funeral assurance 2021 to name a few.
Growth for Doves Holdings also meant diversification. In addition to Doves Funeral Services and Doves Life Assurance, Doves Holdings now also includes Doves Financial Services and Silkwood Manufacturing.
Silkwood Manufacturing is the largest manufacturer and distributor of value-added wooden products in Zimbabwe. Based in Mutare, their distribution network spans across the entire southern region of Africa. They also export to European countries. These products include house fittings, office, school and home furniture, building and construction timber, as well as funeral caskets.
The latest addition to Doves Holdings is Doves Financial Services. They provide short term loans, foreign exchange services, remittances, financial intelligence and financial planning. Doves Financial Services knits together the Doves Holdings service offering by providing a clear gateway through which clients can access convenience, even in the most difficult times.
Growing the business has also meant that we did not neglect the flagship brand and its tools of the trade. People mourning in different ways and Doves strives to present a number of options for our clients to choose from. The Doves fleet includes state of the art Mercedes Benz Pilato hearses, Nissan Patrol limo hearses and other executive hearses to the already existing executive hearses fleet. The fleet also includes a Royce Rolls hearse and a modified Landcruiser hearse nicknamed “Chibaba” to name just a few.
Service excellence is the heart of everything the group does. That is why a state-of-the-art Contact Centre has been set up in a new branch. The purpose of this new branch is a focus on digital communications and reaching our clients wherever they are, and on whichever platforms including social media and our website. In order for organisations to continue to exist they must adapt, or face certain collapse. Doves Holdings will continue to grow and develop and serve in Zimbabwe, and globally.
