Honouring the Life and Legacy of Tendai Ndoro

On Sunday, 24 August 2025, Zimbabwe and the wider footballing community bid farewell to one of its brightest stars, Tendai “Fire” Ndoro, whose talent, passion, and determination made him a household name. His sudden passing at the age of 40 has left fans, family, and colleagues across the globe in deep mourning.

At Doves Holdings, it was both our duty and our privilege to walk this final journey with the Ndoro family, ensuring that this football icon received the dignified farewell he truly deserved.

A Footballing Journey Worth Remembering

Born in Bulawayo in 1985, Tendai Ndoro rose from humble beginnings to become one of Zimbabwe’s most gifted strikers. Known for his lethal finishing and natural flair on the field, Ndoro’s career took him from Chicken Inn FC in Zimbabwe to Mpumalanga Black Aces and Orlando Pirates in South Africa, before moving to Saudi Arabia with Al-Faisaly.

He also proudly wore the national colours of Zimbabwe, representing the Warriors with distinction and passion. Ndoro was admired for his determination, his ability to rise to the occasion in crucial matches, and his never-fading fire for the game, a spirit that earned him the nickname “Fire”.

The Nation Mourns

On Sunday, 24 August 2025, mourners gathered at the Bulawayo Amphitheatre for a memorial service celebrating Ndoro’s life. The service was filled with heartfelt tributes from former teammates, coaches, family members, and fans. Messages of condolence poured in not only from Zimbabwe but also from across Africa, showing the depth of the mark Ndoro left on the sporting world.

Following the memorial, he was laid to rest at West Park Cemetery in Bulawayo, his hometown. His funeral was attended by dignitaries, sports leaders, fellow footballers, and countless fans, all united in honouring his contribution to the game. A live broadcast link was also shared for those who could not attend in person, allowing thousands more to be part of the farewell.
